Two New Books, One Good Year |
|
Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve shared with you my reading public. Since my last posting, I’ve
not only released my major, mainstream novel, Hollywood Skye, which is doing well by the way,
but I’ve also released my first children’s/pre-teen book, The Adventures of Grammy and Sammy.
Hollywood Skye has all the trappings of a good Hollywood movie—the main character, Skye
leading the drama from the beginning of the book until you close the last page. Skye coerces a
soldier from a nearby military base to marry her in order to get as far away from home as
possible. Thousands of miles away and with a new husband, she realizes that she’s in a marriage
from hell, and with very little money she leaves her husband and hops on a Greyhound bus
heading south. South as in Los Angeles. With no more than a dream, she manages to get a few
acting gigs and then a sudden shining light crosses her path and offers to manage her career. But
everything that glitters isn’t gold in Hollywood, and Skye finds out the hard way what is really
important in life.
The Adventures of Grammy and Sammy is comprised of ten short stories I wrote with my
granddaughter, Samayya. We’ve had some wonderful adventures together, and after Samayya
won two Excellence in Writing Awards while in elementary school, I thought it would be a cool
project to write several short stories with my granddaughter. It turned out that we chronicled
some of our adventures together, while also bonding even more.
It is so important to embrace our young people and help guide them to a place that will build
their self-esteem, entrepreneurship, and their place in the world.
